The reason dentists like potatoes is because they are so “filling!” Ba-dum ching.
Lame joke, I know. But seriously, the wiser our patients in Bankers Hill and Hillcrest are about what they eat, the easier it will be to care for their dear old teeth.
Most San Diego adults have been warned about the physical effects of stress. Our doctors remind us to protect ourselves from the dangers of unmanaged stress by eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting adequate sleep.
Here is the Marcos Ortega DDS guide to treating teeth grinding.
Understand
Most teeth grinding will occur while sleeping. Consistent teeth grinding might be suspected with a sore jaw and dull headache in the mornings. Anxiety or stress are not the only reasons grinding may appear. It can also be related to an abnormal bite or missing or crooked teeth.

Have you stopped drinking hot and cold beverages to alleviate the discomfort? Dental pain is like an unpaid speeding ticket; ignoring it won’t make it go away.
